TRC’s “Team Kathy” has been a proud sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation’s annual 5k Jingle Bell Run for four years running. Earlier this fall, Kathy Adams, the inspiration behind Team Kathy, shared her multi-decade battle with arthritis with the global TRC team. After reflecting on Kathy’s journey, TRC’s associates worldwide joined Team Kathy and the Jingle Bell Run became an international event. On December 1, teams from eight different locations ran and walked 5k to raise awareness and funding for the Arthritis Foundation.
Kathy has been fighting Rheumatoid Arthritis for nearly her entire life. Her diagnosis was delivered more than 40 years ago. Today, after over 40 surgeries and various medication protocols, Kathy lives a relatively pain-free life. She gives thanks to the Jingle Bell Run and to the companies that have delivered medical breakthroughs to help people live with arthritis. Nearly 50 million people are impacted by arthritis in the U.S. alone, with many different manifestations. Click here to see types of arthritis. People also perceive arthritis to be a disease that comes with age, but that is not always the case. “The Arthritis foundation has directly improved my quality of life. The treatment options have significantly improved over my lifetime,” says Kathy.
2018s Team Kathy expanded to over 100 TRC Associates plus Kathy’s family and friends who joined the 1,900 participants to raise nearly $200,000 in the Columbus, OH event.
The Arthritis Foundation benefits from 100% of the money raised and uses our donations in 3 ways:
- Funding for research
- Supporting policy change
- Helping families impacted by arthritis
