Northern Ireland’s leading homelessness charity, The Simon Community NI, recently organised a sleepout at the Titanic Docks in Belfast to help raise awareness and essential funds for their life-changing services supporting the homeless across Northern Ireland.

Shockingly, it is thought that on average, there are 100,000 people currently without their own home. With this in mind as the end of the year approached, as well as the dropping temperatures, our team here at Tech Europe were honoured to get involved to support the remarkable work carried out by the Simon Community.

Team Tech was made up of our Managing Director, Gary, VP of Sales & Marketing, Iain, Financial Controller, Stephen, Purchasing Manager, Sam and Marketing Executive, Rachael. Lasting 12 hours, the Titanic Dock Sleepout aimed to push participants out of their comfort zone to experience and raise awareness of the dangers of being homeless as well as the extent to which it is prevalent in Northern Ireland and around the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who kindly donated to our JustGiving page for this amazing cause, including our valued suppliers, MSO Cleland and TR Logistics Group.

We were also delighted to get the whole Tech Europe team involved by hosting a coffee morning at our offices just days before the big event. Thanks to the generosity of our staff, our coffee morning increased our total fundraising amount to £961, helping smash our target of £500! The event as a whole has raised over £7,000 so far.

Check out our photos of the sleepout and coffee morning below!

About the Simon Community
Established in 1971 in response to a homelessness crisis in Belfast, Simon Community has grown to become Northern Ireland’s leading homelessness charity and service provider. From a beginning of just one house, two full time staff and a few volunteers in Belfast, Simon Community NI now helps over 3000 people every year across 22 projects throughout Northern Ireland with a staff count of 300 and 50 volunteers. We work without judgement to support people who are, or are at risk of, becoming homeless.
