As a global company with over 75 years’ experience, Tech Europe is committed to providing a first-class service to both customers and suppliers. With this in mind, we also place a high importance on giving back to charities, both on a local and national level.
As 2017 drew to an end, our team met with representatives from various charities, learning more about the remarkable they are committed to offering, and how Tech Europe could support this. After much thought and consideration to reach as many charities as possible, as a team, we decided to donate to 3 very worthy causes:
- Habitat for Humanity
- Tiny Life
- Stepping Stones
Habitat for Humanity
Lisburn based, Habitat for Humanity, has one mission, to create ‘a world where everyone has a decent place to live.’ They work where it matters most; at the heart of communities, beside families in need, offering a ‘hand-up’ out of poverty through simple, decent housing on a global scale. That’s exactly why we were thrilled to meet Chief Executive, Jenny Williams and her team to present them with a cheque for £2,500. Jenny commented:
“Home is the start of it; for us and for people everywhere, a solid foundation to build a better future where children can study and stay healthy. The reality is that every minute 20 people die because of where they live and we know that a simple home breaks the cycle of poverty.”
“We are so thankful for the support of Tech Europe, which will create new opportunities to reach more people locally; through Habitat ReStore and around the world.”
TinyLife
Established in 1988, TinyLife is a premature and vulnerable baby charity, dedicated to providing a range of support services that meet the growing needs of families of premature and ill babies in Northern Ireland. TinyLife is a charity that resonates highly with us at Tech Europe as our Stores Manager, Graham, received support from TinyLife when his son Ollie was born on 23rd September 2013. Graham explained;
“My son Ollie arrived into the world 13 weeks earlier than expected, at the Royal Maternity Hospital weighing only 2lb 4oz. He was quickly whisked away to the Neonatal ICU and remained in the Royal Hospital for a total of 6 months.
TinyLife were amazing throughout this difficult time. They were constantly visiting us and Ollie, offering support and liaising with hospital staff to ensure we were always kept up to date. Ollie is now 4 years of age and such a happy, fun loving little boy who is adored so much. We are so honoured to be the proud parents of Ollie and cannot thank TinyLife and the Royal Hospital enough for all their loving care and attention during his 6 month stay.”
After learning about the amazing support that TinyLife offer, we were honoured to meet Kimberly Hill, Community Fundraiser at TinyLife, to present a cheque for £2,500 to support their life-changing work.
Stepping Stones
For over 20 years, Stepping Stones has been supporting people who face all kinds of barriers to employment including learning difficulties, Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia. The charity works tirelessly to support those with learning disabilities by providing meaningful training so that they have greater opportunities for employment. We were delighted to continue our support to Stepping Stones this year as we donated £2,000 to support their incredible work across NI. Accepting the cheque on behalf of Stepping Stones was Ellen Hillen.
