When it comes to tire repair, quality depends on more than just the repair itself. One essential step is properly cleaning the tire’s inner liner before buffing and repair preparation.
Did You Know…?
Tire manufacturers use chemical release agents to ensure that the rubber inner liner smoothly releases from machinery during the manufacturing process. While necessary for manufacturing, these lubricants often remain on the inner liner after production.
If these contaminants are not removed before buffing:
- Repair adhesion can be significantly reduced
- Bonding between the tire and repair unit may be compromised
- The risk of repair failure increases
- Buffing wheels can become contaminated and wear more quickly
For professional tire technicians, ensuring a clean repair area is a vital step in achieving a reliable, long-lasting repair.
